Pink Residue in Showers (Seasonal Buildup – NOT Mold)
What is the pink residue?
This is NOT mold.
Pink / salmon-colored buildup in showers is a naturally occurring bacteria that appears more often during cooler months.
Why it happens more this time of year:
-
Hot showers + cold weather
-
Less ventilation (windows closed)
-
Moisture stays longer on grout, corners, and drains
-
Soap & conditioner residue feeds the bacteria
👉 This is seasonal, very common, and not caused by poor cleaning.
What does it look like?
You’ll usually see it:
-
In grout lines
-
In shower corners
-
Around drains
-
Along silicone caulking
