Cleaning Technician Termination Process
1. Review Termination Policy
- Access the termination rules in Gusto that each Cleaning Technician (CT) signed upon hire.
- Ensure that any steps or documentation required for termination are fully completed and accessible, such as prior warnings or improvement conversations.
2. Document Improvement Conversations
- Schedule a documented conversation with the CT to address performance issues.
- Clearly outline areas for improvement and provide specific guidance and support to help them meet company standards.
- Give the CT a reasonable opportunity to demonstrate improvements.
- Document these conversations, including dates, improvement goals, and the CT’s response or acknowledgment.
3. Final Review Before Termination
- If performance has not improved following the initial improvement conversation, prepare for termination.
- Ensure all documentation is complete, including performance logs and notes from improvement conversations.
4. Termination Meeting
- Timing: Schedule the termination meeting for a Thursday.
- Preparation: Notify the CT the night before, instructing them to bring all company belongings, including their uniform, tools, and any other issued items.
- Platform: Conduct the meeting over a Slack Huddle (video) for a professional and private discussion.
5. Completion of Change in Relationship Form
- Locate the Change in Relationship form in the office Drive (under Employees>Termination forms).
- Have both the departing CT and the person assisting with the departure (Operations Manager, Team Lead, or Owner) sign this form.
- Documentation: Scan the completed form and send it to #employee-relations-updates.
Final Offboarding
- Follow the Offboarding Process
This approach ensures flexibility for the in-person portion of the process while maintaining consistency and professionalism in each termination procedure.
