Pre-Start Document Checklist

Overview

The Pre-Start Document Checklist is completed before extending the official offer to a candidate. This step helps verify that the candidate meets the required documentation and compliance standards before additional onboarding time is invested.

When to Complete

  • Stage: Before official offer
  • Recommended Timing: Same day as final candidate selection

Required Touch Points

Request the candidate to send a photo of each of the following documents via SMS:

  • Driver’s License (DL) copy
  • Proof of car insurance
  • Social Security card or work authorization document

Purpose

The purpose of this process is to confirm that all minimum employment and compliance requirements are met before moving forward with onboarding activities.

Completing this verification early helps:

  • Prevent onboarding delays
  • Reduce administrative rework
  • Ensure hiring compliance
  • Confirm candidate readiness

Best Practices

  • Request documents promptly after final selection
  • Review all submitted documents for accuracy and validity
  • Follow up immediately if any document is missing or expired
  • Maintain secure handling of candidate information at all times
