Pink Residue / Pink Mold
Purpose
To ensure consistent messaging, proper escalation, and proactive client communication regarding pink residue in showers during seasonal months.
1️⃣ WHEN A CLIENT REPORTS PINK RESIDUE
Office Response Checklist:
☑ Acknowledge and apologize
☑ Educate calmly (seasonal + environmental)
☑ Reassure client it’s not mold or hygiene-related
☑ Explain what BAHC is doing internally
☑ Provide simple prevention tips
⚠️ Do NOT:
-
Blame the client
-
Say it’s mold
-
Promise it won’t return
-
Suggest it’s due to lack of cleaning
2️⃣ INTERNAL ACTION STEPS (OFFICE → FIELD)
-
Add a note to the work order:
-
Flag recurring complaints:
-
If the same client reports it repeatedly, note:
-
Condition of caulk
-
Ventilation issues
-
Frequency of showers / heavy product use (if known)
-
-
-
No re-clean required unless visibly missed
-
This is environmental, not a quality failure.
-
3️⃣ CLIENT-FACING MESSAGE TEMPLATE (COPY / PASTE)
Subject (optional):
Regarding Pink Residue in the Shower
Message:
Hi [Customer Name],
Thank you for letting us know, and we’re sorry for the frustration.
What you’re seeing is commonly referred to as “pink mold,” but it’s actually a naturally occurring bacteria that tends to appear more during cooler months. Hot showers combined with colder weather, less ventilation, and moisture staying on grout and caulk can cause it to show up more quickly between cleanings.
This is very common and not related to hygiene or improper cleaning.
What we’re doing on our end:
Over the next couple of months, our team will be giving extra attention to grout lines, corners, and drains and using targeted treatments in affected areas to help minimize buildup.
What helps between visits:
-
Running the bathroom fan for 20–30 minutes after showers
-
Leaving the shower door or curtain open to allow drying
-
Rinsing off soap and conditioner residue on shelves
-
Opening windows when weather allows
We’ll continue to monitor this during your cleanings. Please don’t hesitate to reach out if you have any questions.
Warm regards,
BA House Cleaning Team
4️⃣ ESCALATION GUIDELINES (OFFICE)
Escalate internally only if:
-
Pink staining does not improve after multiple targeted cleanings
-
Caulk appears degraded or permanently stained
-
Client expects permanent prevention
In these cases:
-
Educate client that re-caulking may be needed
-
Cleaning can manage, not correct failing materials
5️⃣ INTERNAL TALKING POINT (FOR OFFICE STAFF)
“This is seasonal bacteria related to moisture and ventilation. We proactively treat it, but it can return between visits. Our role is control and management, not permanent elimination.”
