How MaidCentral Calculates Technician Fee Splits

Purpose

This article explains how MaidCentral automatically calculates fee splits between Cleaning Technicians (CTs). It is provided as a reference only so Operations and Office staff can understand how technician pay percentages are determined when reviewing jobs.

Important: Fee splits are calculated automatically by MaidCentral. Office staff should not manually calculate or override fee splits unless instructed by management.

How MaidCentral Calculates Fee Splits

MaidCentral considers two factors:

  • Each technician’s assigned Fee Split Tier
  • The actual hours each technician worked on the job

The software automatically distributes the job’s fee proportionally based on those two factors.

Technicians who:

  • Have a higher fee split tier, and/or
  • Work more hours

will receive a larger portion of the job’s fee.

Example

Three technicians work the same number of hours.

Technician Fee Split Tier
CT A 38%
CT B 38%
CT C 34%

Because all three technicians worked the same hours, MaidCentral distributes the fee proportionally according to each technician’s assigned tier.

If one technician works more or fewer hours than the others, MaidCentral automatically adjusts the distribution.

When Should Office Staff Review a Fee Split?

Review the fee split if:

  • A technician was added or removed during the job
  • Technicians worked different amounts of time
  • A technician forgot to clock in or out
  • The calculated split appears unusual
  • A technician questions their pay

Do

  • Understand that MaidCentral performs the calculation automatically.
  • Verify that technician clock-in/out times are accurate.
  • Confirm the correct technicians are assigned to the job.
  • Report suspected calculation issues for review.

Don’t

  • Do not manually calculate fee splits.
  • Do not manually adjust technician percentages.
  • Do not assume all technicians receive equal pay.
  • Do not change technician fee split tiers without management approval.

Questions or Discrepancies

If a fee split appears incorrect:

  1. Verify the assigned technicians.
  2. Verify each technician’s clocked hours.
  3. If the issue still appears incorrect, post the Job Number in the designated Slack channel for Operations to review.
